She then worked as a mental health counselor, providing individual and group counseling, at the Center for Health and Human Services until joining the Needy Fund in 1997.
Betsey earned an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University and a B.A. in English from Colby College. She has lived on Cape Cod since 1986 and has two children. When not at the Needy Fund, she enjoys working out, long beach walks, organic gardening and tries to find time to work on her novel and attend a writer’s group.
“I believe 100% in the mission of the Needy Fund. It is all about neighbors helping neighbors. Anyone on Cape Cod can call the Needy Fund for assistance or resource and referral. We are not restricted in our ability to help in a way that federal or state programs are, so we are able to make decisions on a case-by-case basis. Contributing to the economic security of the residents of Cape Cod who are in need, serves to strengthen the community and that’s good for everyone who lives on Cape Cod.”
